Swansea, Celtic, West Ham target Williams focused on Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough defender Rhys Williams insists he is remaining focus on the job at hand amidst transfer speculation.

The 25-year old Australia international has emerged as a January target for Premier League duo Swansea City and West Ham United, as well as Scottish champions Celtic, but upon hearing nothing official is looking only to help the Teessiders up the Championship table.

"The way things stand right now, nothing formal has been said to me … but I am aware there has been interest and we will have to see what happens," he told SBS.

"I am just keeping my mind wholly on the football side of things and obviously if the club does want to sell then that's out of my hands.

"What I can do is concentrate on playing well, which I feel I have been doing this season and we will see what the future brings.

"Middlesbrough's a great club and with five wins from our last six games we are only five points out of the playoff places and heading in the right direction.

"It's good to have been a part of that. Things have been going well for me on the field this season.

"Even when we were struggling I thought I was doing okay, but the results weren't there as a team and when that's the case individual performances can get a bit lost."
