Swansea City captain Ashley Williams was delighted for manager Garry Monk after victory over Norwich City.
Williams admits he felt he'd been letting down his former teammate going into the game.
"It's been hard feeling that we've let him down, definitely," Williams told WalesOnline.
"It's only natural for me, being so close to him, to feel that way after some of the recent results.
"People were looking at him, thinking we're conceding goals and that he was a defender so what was going on?
"But I can tell you the week's work that we're doing has been brilliant and, if you ask any of the lads, they are enjoying it.
"We know the game plan, but we'd been going out and not always executing it. For us to do it left me pleased for him and the staff because they have really put it in. Monks has been 24/7; he's got baby twins and he probably never sees them.
"It's natural for people to look at him and he'll tell you he's big enough to take it, but perhaps they'll stop judging every little thing he does because we're enjoying working with him. What we need to do is get results to show that."
