Swansea boss Rodgers: We put marker down with Stoke win

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers feels they sent the rest of the Premier League a message with victory over Stoke City.

Scott Sinclair and Danny Graham gave Swansea a 2-0 win at the Liberty Stadium over Stoke and Rodgers believes that the win sends out a clear message of Swansea's intentions.

"We put a marker down today because a lot of people in the national [newspapers] don't really know us," Rodgers said.

"They've seen us come up last year and cling on to the fact that everyone says we play really good football.

"What they don't understand is that last year, in nearly 50 per cent of our games, we didn't concede a goal and we've actually played seven games so far this season and kept four clean sheets.

"All I've tried to do is instil that belief in them, that we can go to any ground and compete and that's what we'll look to do. It's a monumental result for us against an established team like Stoke."
