Swansea boss Rodgers wants six January signings

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers wants six new signings made in January.

The Swans have impressed in their first top-flight campaign since 1983, but their squad's lack of depth was exposed as early as August when injuries left them with only four fit defenders.

Rodgers said: "We are looking to identify targets to keep us strong.

"To give us the opportunity to stay in the league, I feel we need between four to six players just to ensure that we keep our strength and our depth."

Rodgers added: 'We've done very well up until now with the players that we have. But when you go into the second part of the season and as you get towards May, you are going to need all of your players.

"I wanted to assess it through to January - the players that allowed us to arrive in this position deserved that opportunity."
