Swansea boss Monk: We responded well after losing Gomis

Garry Monk felt his Swansea City side improved their output in the face of adversity on Wednesday night.

The Swans lost striker Bafetimbi Gomis early in proceedings after the Frenchman fainted in the middle of the pitch in their eventual 3-2 loss to Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

At the time, Swansea were a goal down before drawing level through Ki Sung-yueng but they were denied at the death by Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris when they were striving to make it 3-3 following goals from Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend before Gylfi Sigurdsson's late consolation.

"It was a good save but that's not good for us," Monk told Sky Sports.

"Overall we could have got a point but it was a good save and we have come away with nothing.

"We responded really well after losing Bafe, got the equaliser and could have got a couple more in that period. But then we came in and second half we were disappointed with their two goals. Performance wise we could have got something out of the game."
