Swansea boss Monk not concerned by Koeman rumours

Swansea City interim manager Garry Monk says he is not wasting time worrying about rumours linking other people with the role.

The Swans defender ended his playing days to step into the vacancy left by Michael Laudrup's sacking in early February and is enjoying being in the hot seat at the Liberty Stadium.

Naturally, with somebody in a caretaker role, there will always be speculation and this case is no different with Feyenoord manager Ronald Koeman being heavily linked with the Welsh club.

But Monk is only concerned about the day-to-day happenings with the Swans and says he won't worry about anything he cannot influence directly.

"I don't care - it doesn't affect me," he told reporters ahead of Saturday's clash with West Bromwich Albion.

"This is the business we are in. Players and managers will always be linked with other clubs, but I can't worry about that.

"Names will always be linked when a manager changes, and I guess this shows that everyone wants to work in the Premier League.

"But I just have to focus on what I am doing, and that always means the next game.

"We play West Brom next and this is definitely one of those defining games in the season. We are at home, in front of our fans, and we have to put a performance in."
