Swansea boss Monk eager to ‘find solution’ for Celtic target Michu

Swansea City manager Garry Monk admits the club is working on a transfer for forgotten striker Michu.

The Spaniard is being heavily linked with a move to Scottish giants Celtic, and although Monk stopped short of naming clubs, he disclosed that the Swans were keen to give the former Celta Vigo and Rayo Vallecano man an opportunity elsewhere.

"This is why I'm at the stadium - I'll be having a meeting with the chairman afterwards," Monk said relating to the Celtic links.

"We're negotiating with his representatives and there's been different clubs supposedly, but there's been nothing concrete at all. But it's best for both parties - for Michu and the club itself - if we can find a solution."

Michu starred in his debut campaign for the Swans, scoring 22 goals in all competitions in 2012/13, but has since failed to hit those heights and was subsequently loaned to Italian club Napoli last term.
