Swansea boss Laudrup: Winning Capital One Cup bigger than European Cup

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup says winning the Capital One Cup would top victory in the European Cup.

Laudrup says winning the Capital One Cup with Swansea would give him even more pleasure than knocking England out of the European Championships or winning a European Cup medal.

The 48-year-old Dane explained: "I have had two very good days at Wembley, two days that were among the highlights of my career.

"When we beat England there it meant Denmark qualified for Euro 1984 instead of England, and that was a huge thing.

"And in 1992 we beat a team that contained Roberto Mancini, Gianluca Vialli and a host of other famous Italian players, so that is another great memory.

"They were two fantastic results for me, and I hope Sunday will be the third.

"People have asked me how I would rank this final, and of course it is difficult to compare the Capital One Cup with the Champions League. But I have to say it is very different to be going into a big game as a manager, and that is why this is so big for me.

"As a player you would just think about doing your best in every game, knowing there were 10 other people sharing the responsibility and you had to accept whatever happened.

"But as the manager you are involved every day before every round, and you have to keep on getting it right. So for me, in many ways, this would give me much more pleasure than it did as a player."
