Swansea boss Laudrup slams Premier League festive fixture pile-up

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup is critical of the Premier League's hectic Christmas schedule. The Swans are at Chelsea on Boxing Day before travelling to Aston Villa two days later, and Laudrup told Sky Sports: "If we play on a Thursday [in the Europa League], automatically our Saturday game is transferred to a Sunday to give us three days.

"That is the least everyone has in all the leagues in Europe -- but at Christmas we have to play the 26th and 28th, and both games are away.

"That I do not understand. The fans can't go. They could ten to 15 years ago, but now if you don't have a ticket you can't go. Before, the whole family would have Christmas and go to a game. Nowadays, if you don't have a ticket you don't go.

"Of course we have tried to move these games. I don't understand playing on the 26th and 28th, I think the majority of the clubs disagree with that, so hopefully all the teams or most can agree on this. I would like to move the game on the 28th to the 29th. The Boxing Day game is difficult to move."
