Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup says he was forced to move to Getafe striker Alvaro Vazquez last month.
The Dane admitted he was left with little choice with domestic prices prohibitive.
"It's not that I always want Spanish players, but again it's about the combination of the quality and what you have to pay," stressed Laudrup, who remembered Vazquez's impressive stint at Espanyol after an indifferent year at Getafe.
"I think it's relevant and the chairman thinks that as well - and he's right. That's how it is."
