Swansea meet Wolves at the weekend with Swans boss Brendan Rodgers sure that Mick McCarthy will continue to do a fine job in the Midlands and drag his team clear of the drop zone. McCarthy, who has been in charge at Molineux for five years, is under pressure after seeing his team slide towards the edge of the relegation zone after losing five consecutive matches.
Having seen their team come within one point of the drop last year, Wolves fans are concerned that they are set for another year of fraught nerves, and some have called for McCarthy to leave.
But Rodgers said: "Every team has a run of games. He (McCarthy) has done a brilliant job there and had periods like this before and always come out strong.
"Mick has done a wonderful job at Wolves in his time there in the Championship and taken them through.
"There has been great developments there both on and off the field.
"He understands like us all that it's very difficult in the Premier League."
