Abraham, on loan from Chelsea, started the season well with the Swans but quickly fell off the rails, with bad form and injuries curtailing his progress.
But now that Bony has ruled been out for the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Saturday, Abraham will be given a chance to recapture his early season form.
"Tammy Abraham is an interesting player," Carvalhal told club website.
"Wilfried's injury will give more opportunities to him and he is someone we believe in a lot.
"We liked him last season when he was scoring a lot of goals in the Championship. He has quality, a lot of pace and he is a good finisher.
"He is a very good talent and we will try to help him give the maximum to the team."
