Swansea City boss Carlos Carvalhal insists Leon Britton has a big role to play - on the pitch - this season.
Carvalhal did not feel Britton could continue to be a coach and a player, but decided to leave the final choice up to the 35-year-old and was happy to abide by his wishes.
“I am happy with his decision. I talked with him. He is very welcome (to be a part of this team)," said Carvalhal.
“Usually my assistant coaches stay friends forever with me, but I said to him that he can be a coach and prepare this team and prepare for his future.
“In another side, if you decide to play you are a fantastic player so I will be happy in both.
“He wants to play so I am very happy."
