Swansea to bid for Reading keeper McCarthy

Swansea City are chasing Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

The Sunday Mirror says Swansea have identified Reading's £5million-rated goalkeeper McCarthy as a possible replacement if Michel Vorm leaves this summer.

McCarthy, 24, is rated as one of the best young stoppers in the country and one of the Royals standout performers this term.

His displays in the second tier of English football have not gone unnoticed and Swansea have positioned him as their No.1 goalkeeping target.

Vorm, who is in contention to start in goal for Holland at the World Cup, is wanted by Liverpool to provide competition for first-choice stopper Simon Mignolet.
