Swansea to add 'quality' and 'depth' this summer - Monk

Swansea City manager Garry Monk insists the club will need to make some signings in the summer transfer window.

The Welsh club are currently experiencing somewhat of a striker crisis with injuries to key attackers taking their toll now and earlier in the campaign.

The loss of Wilfried Bony to Manchester City in January highlights Swansea's shortcomings in attack and the boss admits new players will need to be signed if they want to push further up the Premier League table next season.

"We have had a few injuries but that comes back to adding to the squad," said Monk.

"If we'd had a few injuries to some of our consistent performers we could have been in a very different situation, and that's why we must add quality and depth to the squad this summer while not losing anything."

Swansea currently have Bafetimbi Gomis, who is returning from a hamstring injury, Marvin Emnes and Benfica loanee Nelson Oliveira as its only recognised strikers.
