Wolves midfielder Andrew Surman has called for an end to the fall-out from events at Old Trafford. Surman has warned that beating Burnley to boost their Barclays Premier League survival hopes has to be more important than the controversy that has been created by manager Mick McCarthy's team selection against Manchester United.
Former England Under-21 international Surman said: "I think probably too much has been made of Tuesday night.
"It wasn't a bad performance to be honest but a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon.
"At the end of the day that is out of the way and we have got to look forward to Burnley, which is a massive game.
"The players understand the manager's reasoning against United and it is up to the players and staff to get the win against Burnley.
"The only pressure that is on us is the pressure that we put on ourselves to win the game.
"There has been a lot of media interest about what happened on Tuesday night but that has not put any added pressure on us.
"We know how big a game it is so we are fully focused on that and not worrying about anything else."
Many fans who made the trip to Old Trafford were left fuming by the team that McCarthy selected.
But Surman expects every single supporter to be fully behind the team against Burnley.
He added: "The fans have been behind us all season and they were behind us on Tuesday.
"The support has been great all season and I am sure that will continue against Burnley."
