Surinam battle Holland for Middlesbrough's Emnes

Middlesbrough winger Marvin Emnes is set to become the centre of an international tug-of-war between Holland and Surinam.

Surinam coach Kenneth Jaliens has already spoken to Emnes about the possibility of defecting, made possible by his lack of involvement with the Holland national team.

"There are many Surinamese boys in Holland who would gladly come and play for Surinam," Jaliens told the Sunday Sun. "For example, I spoke Marvin Emnes when he was on holiday in Surinam. He saw the potential for success playing for the Surinam national side.

"Our dream is to qualify for the World Cup finals, and there is certainly a chance if we have Surinamese footballers from the Netherlands."
