Newcastle United legend Malcolm Macdonald is delighted seeing Paul Dummett make his mark this season.
Supermac is a big fan of the Wales defender.
He told talkSPORT: "He is a local lad but he was sent out on loan as a youngster with [St Mirren] and an old team-mate of mine Tommy Craig was a coach up there and he brought the lad along beautifully.
"He always said he's not a left-back he's better at centre-half and he said he was one of the very few players in the game who just absolutely loves defending and doesn't want to do anything else. He doesn't want to get forward and doesn't want to do the showier parts of football. He loves the grittier side of defending and he's a brilliant organiser.
"Since he's been in the side you can see a big difference in the Newcastle backline, particularly when he plays at centre-half."
