Super agent Zahavi furious over Stevens report

Israeli 'super-agent' Pini Zahavi has spoken of his anger at being named in Lord Stevens' report into alleged irregular payments in football transfers.

The powerful figure, who has strong ties with Chelsea and other influential football clubs, bore the wrath of Lord Stevens' findings with regards his conduct in several deals.

As a result, following the publication of the 16-month, £1.3million probe, Zahavi has now moved to clear his name and instructed his legal team to sue for 'substantial and unlimited damages'.

"This investigation is the joke of the century. What evidence do they have against me? They have defamed my name and I can assure you they will pay very dearly for this. I think they underestimate me," he told the Sunday Mirror.

"They will not brush this under the carpet. I won't rest until justice has been done. What angers me is I am an honest man full of integrity and this lot have treated me like a criminal.

"This report has done me untold damage. They have behaved like a judge, jury and executioner without so much as an ounce of evidence against me.

"My lawyers will now explore whether I take them to court in England or in my homeland in Israel and sue them for substantial and unlimited damages.

"Chairmen at some of the big Premier League clubs even called me and asked why they were targeting me. Powerful people in football know I'm a man of integrity and it's an insult to my name to even be connected with a bung enquiry. I have never taken a bung."
