Sunu awarded Arsenal pro deal

Gilles Sunu has impressed his new employers since arriving at Arsenal from French club Chateauroux, so much so he has been offered his first professional contract.

Despite struggling with injury in his debut season, the French forward has thoroughly enjoyed his new surroundings and, speaking to Arsenal.com, he revealed that he has "no regrets".

"Life has been very good," said the 17 year old. "In London you can never get bored and with guys like Nacer Barazite, Rui Fonte and Armand Traore it is easy to get used to the life. They have helped me a lot. All the players have been very sympathetic with me and everything is going well.

"Of course I am very, very happy with my decision to come to Arsenal. Even though this year has been difficult because of injury I think next year will be much better. I am excited for it, and I have no regrets."

Unfortunately, appearances have been limited due to a knee injury.

However Sunu has not been destabilised by it.

"I picked up a knee injury so it had been difficult because until recently I was feeling pain. But it is on the mend now. It is not too difficult for me to play regularly for the Academy and the Reserves as ultimately it will help my development.

"I think I have already improved a lot here and I know that I can get much better as a striker or as a wide man. I have a lot of progress to make and I am looking forward to doing it."
