Sunderland's Yorke yearns for Australia return

Sunderland striker Dwight Yorke has not ruled out a return to the A-League after previously turning out for Sydney FC three years ago.

The former Manchester United player is currently out of contract with the Black Cats and is waiting for Sunderland to offer him a new deal.

Yorke, however, is believed to be eyeing a coaching and playing role at the club. The 36-year-old is studying for his FIFA "B" coaching badge.

According to a source close to the ex-Aston Villa star, he is open to the suggestion of returning to Australia to hone his playing and coaching skills.

Yorke was a hit with the Sydney fans during the 2005/6 season - where he helped the club to the A-League championship.

Said the unnamed source: "Dwight's made no secret that he loves it here in Australia. If he can find a team in the A-League that is the right fit, both playing and coaching-wise, there's every chance he'll be in Australia for the new season."
