Sunderland midfielder Ross Wallace wants a permanent deal with Preston.

Preston boss Alan Irvine said: "Ross is on loan here until January with a view to a permanent deal but it could have changed a bit with Roy's (Keane) departure from Sunderland.

"I know Niall Quinn is keen to reduce the Sunderland squad so that may go in our favour."

Wallace added: "Hopefully the two clubs will come to some sort of agreement because I am enjoying it here. If we make the squad a bit bigger, we'll be a real force."
