Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson says he deserved to be dropped for Sunday's defeat by Arsenal.

Richardson, 23, said: "During the week there was an incident where I was late due to my train being late.

"I expect that of the manager. If you're not on time, you don't get in the squad.

"But I spoke to the gaffer about it, I sorted it out, it's fine. There are no hard feelings."
