Sunderland's McShane breaks knee cap on hols

Sunderland defender Paul McShane has broke his kneecap in a freak holiday accident.

McShane, 22, slipped on a sunshine break with pals and is expected to be out until mid-August.

Black Cats club doctor Glenn Rae said: "It was a very complex fracture but we got Paul back with us straight away. The operation was a success."

It is Keano's second summer injury blow after Kenwyne Jones was crocked playing for Trinidad.
