Sunderland's Johnson has no regrets quitting Man City, Champions League

Sunderland winger Adam Johnson has no regrets quitting Manchester City and the Champions League this season.

Johnson felt he had no chance of playing ay City.

He admitted to The Sun: "You want to be part of the Champions League but there is being part of it and playing in it.

"You ask any player if they mind sitting on the bench, and if they say they don't mind they'd be lying.

"The novelty of playing in the Champions League wears off.

"At first, when you haven't played in it before, it's great with the atmosphere, going to different grounds.

"I've had some great experiences but not playing motivates you to want to play."
