Sunderland's Halford using Cup to promote record company

Sunderland defender Greg Halford used his goal for Sheffield United in the FA Cup to promote his record company!

Halford headed home in the Blades' 1-1 draw with Hull City and wheeled away in celebration to lift up his shirt and point to a logo.

He said: "I am part of a record company and I was just trying to advertise the record company.

"I am an investor in it. It's called 'R and R World'. It's a proper record label looking for unsigned acts and new talent.

"The chairman, Eric Nicoli, is a massive, massive person in the music industry, he used to own EMI. One of my best mates, Paul Rose, got to the last 16 in Pop Idol. He is now joint owner. I am just an investor trying to publicise it as much as I can because music and football go well together.

"I am into all sort of music. I had the T-shirt on as I was confident I could score. But I wasn't tempted to take the shirt off to give a full view because I'm on four bookings.

"I asked the ref beforehand and he said it was perfectly all right.

"We have two bands ready to release in the next month or so, a boy band called Vice and a band called Oswald. But I suppose the best ones to be managing money- wise it would be Take That or Backstreet Boys. But there are some legends like Michael Jackson."
