Sunderland striker Darren Bent claims he is prepared for the disappointment of missing out on an England World Cup place. The 25-year-old was on the fringes of Sven Goran Eriksson's squad in the build up to the 2006 World Cup before missing out on the final cut for Germany.
With 13 Premier League goals to his name this term, Bent is once again in the frame for the England World Cup squad, now managed by Fabio Capello.
"I definitely feel more ready if the same thing happens to me this time around," Bent told the Daily Express.
"I know that you can never count your chickens, no matter how many goals you score, but this time I will be able to cope.
"Last time it felt like a bus had just hit me. All I can do is keep on scoring, keep on doing my best. To go to the World Cup would fill one void in my career which needs filling after missing the last one."
