Sunderland's Arnau attracting Championship interest

Sunderland's Arnau Riera is being chased by a number of Championship clubs.

The Spaniard joined The Black Cats in 2006 after leaving Barcelona - but that was before Roy Keane arrived.

Following Keane's arrival Arnau saw little action and joined Southend on loan.

Then last summer he agreed a season-long loan to Falkirk and he enjoyed his stint north of the border.

When Sunderland announced that Riera was on their retained list, it was reported that the 26-year-old may be in line for a recall.

But his representative Craig Honeyman of SEM, has confirmed that Riera will not be staying at the Stadium of Light.

"Arnau is looking for a move and we hope that will be sooner rather than later," Honeyman told and is very thankful to them for the opportunity last season and he has not ruled out the possibility of going back.

"Arnau is thinking over a few things but there is interest from the Championship and also in Holland."
