Sunderland's Anderson: Leaving Aberdeen big gamble

Sunderland defender Russell Anderson admits it was a risk to leave Aberdeen in the summer.

"It's a gamble I have to take," he said. "If you're playing in the Premier League it should help your prospects of playing for Scotland. If I'm not playing first-team football, I know the consequences. It's certainly something I took into consideration but it was a move I couldn't turn down."

He also said the Black Cats had to "face the music" after Saturday's 3-0 defeat. Anderson conceded their second penalty of the game after coming on for his debut.

"The manner of the defeat was disappointing so he (Keane) was obviously hacked off," he acknowledged. "If you don't play well, you are going to have to face the music. There were a few home truths said in the dressing room."
