Sunderland youngster Colback hopes for Ipswich stay

Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback would like to extend his stay with Ipswich beyond next month.

The 20-year-old was on the scoresheet as Roy Keane's men beat Blackpool 3-1 on Saturday but he is due to return to parent club Sunderland when his half-season loan finishes in January.

Colback has enjoyed his time at Portman Road and would relish the chance to complete the season there as he believes Ipswich could achieve great things.

"If my loan can be extended I would love to stay longer as it has been a fantastic experience and I'm a better player now than when I arrived," Colback told the Evening Star.

"I've not spoken to the manager yet and I don't know his plans but to be here for the rewards I'm sure the second half of the season will bring would be nice.

"I can see the wheels turning now and although reaching the play-offs is a big ask the manager believes it can be done and so do the players."
