Sunderland winger James McClean is thrilled to be in the Republic of Ireland's Euros squad.
On hearing the news that he would be going to the European Championships, McClean told safc.com:
"I took the call from Mr Trappatoni this morning; it certainly wasn't a bad wake up call to get!
McClean made his international bow as a late substitute during Ireland's draw with the Czech Republic back in February and just last week he picked up SAFC Supporters' Young Player of the Year Award.
"It's been a fantastic year for me in football terms." McClean added.
"Breaking into the Sunderland first-team was a huge step and then to make my debut for Ireland was just amazing.
"I've had an incredible few months, cementing my place in the team and acclimatising to the Premier League and winning the Supporters' Young Player of the Year award, was a huge honour."
