Sunderland winger Adam Johnson will not play for the Black Cats pending the outcome of his two-week trial.
The 28-year-old has pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual activity with a minor and one charge of sexual grooming.
He denied two other charges of sexual activity labelled against him and he will now go to trial.
Last week, Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce said that Johnson would be available for selection against Manchester United on Saturday. However, it has emerged that the former Manchester City winger will not play professional football until after the court case.
