Sunderland are willing to wait to close a deal for Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates.
The Evening Chronicle says Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has told sporting director Lee Congerton he wants to bring the 24-year-old back to Wearside next season, and Sunderland will test Liverpool's resolve over a player who has made just six Premier League starts in four years on Merseyside and who is out of contract next summer.
He is currently in Chile preparing for the 2015 tournament, Uruguay due to start the defence of their title against Jamaica tomorrow.
By the time the tournament ends on July 4, Sunderland are hoping negotiations with Liverpool will be well underway.
