Sunderland and Aston Villa are a step closer to landing West Brom left-back Paul Robinson.

West Brom have pinpointed Scunthorpe's Marcus Williams as a possible replacement for Robinson, who is tipped to leave Albion this summer.

Tenacious left-back Robinson has been linked with a move to Premier League new boys Sunderland and Midlands rivals Aston Villa.

And if he does leave The Hawthorns for a return to the top flight, Baggies boss Tony Mowbray will lodge an offer for Iron full-back Williams.
