Sunderland on verge of signing Wolves' Fletcher

Sunderland are poised to complete the signing of Steven Fletcher from Wolves according to Sky Sports.

The 25-year old English-born Scottish striker has been linked with a Molineux departure since the club were relegated last season and it appears that the Black Cats are set to seal a deal for his services.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is still remaining calm regarding the possible signing after seeing his limp attack draw a blank at Arsenal on Saturday.

"Fletcher has been one of the players mentioned, but we need to strengthen because we need some help," he said.

"There were little moments where Louis Saha showed his class, but expecting a 33-year-old to come in and play X number of games for us is out of the question.

"I am hopeful we are able to do something."

It is believed that Wolves are now prepared to sell Fletcher to a Premier League club after rejecting a couple of offers which did not meet their asking price.
