Sunderland using Wembley to beat Cardiff to Scocco signing

Sunderland hope to tempt Internacional striker Ignacio Scocco to the Premier League ahead of Cardiff City.

The Mirror says Scocco - a 28-year-old Argentina international - is set to leave Brazilian club Internacional this month.

The Black Cats' Uruguayan coach Gus Poyet, who speaks Spanish, has been trying to woo him, and the Wembley-bound Wearsiders are now increasingly confident of getting him either on loan or for £6.5million.

Poyet hopes a place in the Capital One Cup final will convince Scocco about joining Sunderland ahead of Cardiff City.
