Sunderland have bid for Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson.
The Sun says Sunderland boss David Moyes has made an improved £3million bid for Barnsley centre-half Mawson.
The youngster could arrive as a replacement for wantaway Lamine Kone.
Moyes has done some good business with Barnsley, having also taken John Stones from the Tykes to Everton.
