Sunderland will more than likely drop their interest in Liverpool striker David Ngog according to the Sunderland Echo.
The Black Cats yesterday secured the services of promising forward Connor Wickham from Ipswich Town and will now end their pursuit of the Frenchman.
Ngog has been of interest to Steve Bruce and Sunderland since departed midfielder Jordan Henderson first emerged as a target for the Reds with some reports suggesting he could have been a part of the deal that got Henderson to Anfield.
Even after that move, Ngog's name has continued to been bandied around whenever Sunderland's transfer plans are spoken about but it now appears as though Bruce will drop any interest after securing the highly-rated Wickham.
Ngog's future at Anfield was already up in the air and became even more so when Kenny Dalglish bought Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez in January. It seemed as though Sunderland may have given him a lifeline but this suggests he is now in limbo as he is likely to again be a bit-part player at Liverpool.
