Former Chelsea goalkeeper Marco Amelia is set to return to Italy.

Amelia has been training with Sunderland and has been linked with Nottingham Forest.

Sky Sports says with Antonio Mirante and Alfred Gomis injured, Serie A side Bologna could look to ease their goalkeeping crisis with the straightforward capture of Amelia.

Amelia joined Chelsea in October 2015 to provide cover for the injured Thibaut Courtois but failed to make a single appearance for the Blues.
