Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is chasing Brighton fullback Wayne Bridge.

The Daily Mail says Poyet will check on Bridge's fitness before deciding whether to press ahead with plans for a January reunion.

Bridge, 33, only joined Reading in the summer but Poyet hopes his relationship with the former England international will work in his favour in trying to clinch a deal.
