Sunderland remain in pole position to land Le Havre defender Benjamin Mendy.
The talented 18-year old French left-back is a target for Italian pair Juventus and Inter Milan but L'Equipe suggests that he has already held positive talks with Black Cats boss Paolo Di Canio.
Mendy is highly regarded in France, so much so that Lyon are also showing interest, but it appears as though Sunderland have stolen the march on those other clubs who have been alerted by his outstanding progress.
