Sunderland struggling to find buyers for fringe players

Sunderland are struggling to get rid of their fringe players due to their high wages.

The Journal says the Black Cats have already fielded enquiries about the ten players that manager Steve Bruce has made available, but many clubs are prepared to move on to other targets.

Instead, the interested parties have signalled a desire to take the players on loan towards the end of the summer rather than splashing out on transfer fees.

That would be an unsatisfactory compromise for the Wearsiders, but Bruce - who is limited to a squad of just 25 senior players under new FA rules from next season - may find his hand forced by a contracting transfer market.
