Sunderland striker Connor Wickham is determined to make the most of his loan move at Sheffield Wednesday.
Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill authorised a spell with the Yorkshire club in order to provide the England under-21 international with first-team action.
Speaking to Wednesday's official website before the draw with Derby, he said:
"I need to play games and after speaking to the manager and with the size of the club, I jumped at the chance to come here.
"It's always important to have the manager's backing and hopefully I can come here and make an impact."
He added: "As a striker you want to score in every game. I want to come here and show everyone what I'm capable of.
"My confidence is high and hopefully I'll add another dimension to the team."
