Sunderland veteran Jermain Defoe is looking forward to the derby with Middlesbrough.
Defoe is keen to continue that form against Boro, who replaced the Magpies in the top flight following their relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.
Asked whether he felt an added buzz ahead of derbies, he said: "100 per cent, it's like cup final day.
"I went for a walk before the derbies last season and I could see all the fans outside the hotel, it's a different feeling like a cup final. As a player they are ones you want to play in.
"I'm looking forward to Sunday's game, obviously it's going to be a tough derby against Middlesbrough, who are back in the Premier League.
"They've got different players, different ideas and a good manager. I'm looking forward to it, as are the players.
"I'm sure the fans are buzzing too. It's a good first home game. I've always enjoyed playing against Middlesbrough."
