Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher wants to sign permanently with Olympique Marseille.
The striker, who is out of contract with Sunderland at the end of the season, has only been with the French club a week after joining on loan on Deadline Day.
But he is quoted as saying to the Evening Chronicle: “As soon as I knew that Olympique Marseille were interested in me, I jumped at the opportunity.
“It's a great club and I immediately accepted this opportunity. I'm in a situation where my contract ends at Sunderland.
“This is an opportunity to show what I can do to leave a good impression in Marseille. And if I have a contract at the end, that would be great, but we need to see what I can do. I think I can adapt quickly."
