Sunderland striker Darren Bent is delighted with his latest gong.
The £10million striker, with 26 goals in 42 league games for Sunderland, is the North-East Football Writers' player of the year.
He said: "I may not be a local but I feel like one.
"People up here love their goalscorers.
"To feel part of that tradition is brilliant."
