Sunderland striker Darren Bent has explained why he passed up the chance of netting a hat-trick after handing spotkick duties to Kenwyne Jones.

The decision angered Sunderland boss Steve Bruce after their 5-2 win over Wolves, but Bent explained: "I'd like to think so but there's a lot of good strikers in this country.

"If I keep going I might get a look-in."
