Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is wrapping up a deal for Wigan Athletic fullback Maynor Figueroa.

The News of the World says Bruce has finally persuaded Wigan to sell Figueroa, who scored a wonder goal from his own half at Stoke last month, for £6m.

Bruce brought the 26-year-old Honduran to England when he was in charge at Wigan.

Figueroa was desperate to link up with his old boss and the two clubs have finally agreed a £6million fee after Sunderland had two lesser bids turned down.
