Sunderland hope to clinch a deal for Internacional striker Ignacio Scocco in the next 72 hours.

The Evening Chronicle says South American sources suggest the 28-year-old could complete a £5.75m move to Wearside as early as Wednesday.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has refused to comment on the link with Scocco, but behind the scenes the Black Cats have been working hard to make the deal happen.
