Sunderland winger James McClean's success won't go to his head.
Just 12 months ago, the 22-year-old could be found WALKING to and from games for Derry City carrying his own boots.
His presence is still felt in the streets, by the kids who want to follow in his footsteps and by his old mates at Derry who cannot keep him away.
Close pal and Derry City reserve keeper Eugene Ferry told The Sun: "His attitude is a disgrace, in a good way of course.
"He came back to Derry after the Arsenal game a few weeks back and actually turned up for our training on the Sunday morning.
"We all said to him 'what are you doing?' He wanted to join in but we had to tell him where to go. That says everything about him. James showed what hard work and dedication can achieve.
"He has so much belief in his own ability.
"Coming from the Creggan you have to fight for everything and he's done just that."
